SUBSTANCE: developing device has a developing cylinder for carrying the developer, having a magnetic carrier and nonmagnetic toner, and for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier element; a magnet provided in the cylinder and having a plurality of magnetic poles arranged along the circular direction of the cylinder for carrying the developer on the cylinder; and a control element provided opposite the cylinder with a predetermined interval in a region where unlike magnetic poles are adjacent to each other, for controlling the amount of developer carried on the cylinder. The magnetic poles are arranged such that the component of the circular direction of the magnetic force acting on the magnetic carrier, touching at least part of the control surface of the control element lying ahead relative the circular direction of rotation of the cylinder is opposite to the circular direction of rotation.
EFFECT: providing a developing device which enables to prevent deterioration of the developer and stabilise supply of the developer to the developer carrier element, which enables constant control of the amount of developer carried by the developer carrier element using the control element.
