FIELD: printing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a thermal printer which forms printing dots on the recording paper by activating and heating the heating elements of the thermal head, and a method of its operation. The thermal printer having a thermal head with a heating element, heating the recording medium and forming the printing dot by activation of the heating element, at that the device generates the first activating pulse, which continuously operates during the first period for the formation of printing dot in case when the feeding rate of the recording medium is greater than the predetermined threshold value, and generates the second activating pulse that varies during the said first period between the activation in the second period which is shorter than the first period, and the deactivation during the third period in case when the feeding rate of the recording medium is less or equal to the threshold value.
EFFECT: proposed invention improves printing quality.
