FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: video encoding method involves selecting a target frame of a reference vector and a reference frame from already encoded frames; encoding information for labelling each frame; setting the reference vector for indicating a region in the target frame of the reference vector relative the target encoding region; encoding reference vector; searching the corresponding regions using image information of the target region of the reference vector belonging to the target frame of the reference vector and indicated through the reference vector and the reference frame; determining the reference region in the reference frame based on the search result; forming predicted image using reference frame image information corresponding to the reference region; and encoding the difference information between the target encoding region information and the predicted image.
EFFECT: efficient encoding of vector information used for inter-frame predictive encoding, even when the reference frame used in the inter-frame predictive encoding differs between the target encoding region and its neighbouring region.
