FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction materials and particularly to heat insulating porous materials. In the method of producing liquid glass-based heat insulating porous material, which involves thorough mixing of components of a composition comprising liquid glass and sodium chloride, preparing articles and heat treatment at 350°C, a portion of liquid glass before thorough mixing of components is first heat treated at temperature of 250-300°C, and the obtained porous mass, which is ground to particle size of 2-5 mm with packed density of 50-80 kg/m3, is thoroughly mixed with liquid glass and sodium chloride, with the following ratio of components, wt %: liquid glass with density of 1.45 g/cm3 70-80, sodium chloride 10, said ground mass 10-20.
EFFECT: high splitting tensile strength.
