FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of building materials, particularly production of porous aggregates based on liquid glass, meant for making light concrete and fire-resistant heat-insulating filling material. The method of producing fire-resistant porous aggregate involves feeding and mixing a ceramic composition containing the following, wt %: liquid glass modified with sodium chloride 15-20, spent catalyst IM-2201 80-85, granulating and expanding the granules, heat treatment at temperature of 850-950°C, characterised by that the catalyst used is an industrial spent catalyst IM-2201 with particle size ranging from 100 to 200 nm.
EFFECT: high splitting tensile strength of the heat-resistant porous aggregate.
