FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: extrusion-type briquette obtained by means of a rough vacuum extrusion method, containing a binding agent, ore of metal and/or metal-ore concentrate, electrically conductive carbon-containing materials, fluxing additives, and if necessary, metal scrap and oxide metal containing wastes, is used as a charge component for metal melting in electric furnaces. Weight content of electrically conductive carbon-containing materials in a briquette does not exceed 8-25%; size of materials included in the charge for obtaining the briquette does not exceed 5 mm, and its weight does not exceed 0.5 kg. As a binding agent, the briquette contains cement, and if necessary, bentonite or an organic binding agent.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining a binding agent of lumped charge component at minimum cost for melting of metal in electric furnaces of the required chemical composition, having optimum sizes, high hot strength and reductibility.
