The controller is functionally connected to the measuring device and is capable of controlling the measuring device. The controller is capable of receiving the measured parameters and calculating the necessary position of the drilling pipe above the string. The controller is additionally capable of controlling the mechanisms of pipe movement. The other version of the system for performing up and down operations, beyond the said, includes the receiving table for the first pipe location, on which there is a sliding shoe and retainer. Sliding shoe is capable of pushing the first pipe towards the retainer. The measuring device contains the contact sensor and defines the distance between the sliding shoe and retainer.
