FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of cleaning metal surfaces from corrosion deposits based on iron oxides and hydroxides of different nature involves etching the deposits with a solution and then washing the surface with running water, wherein etching is carried out in a solution containing the following, g/l: ethylene glycol 90-150, hydrochloric acid 15-25, 1-hydroxyethylene diphosphonic acid 10-15, oxalic acid 15-25, water - the balance, at temperature of 50-80°C and pH 2-3. The method is suitable for use when cleaning different articles by dipping in a bath, as well as in cleaning closed systems, while maintaining the original physical and chemical properties of the metal.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of cleaning by ensuring fast and complete removal of deposits based on iron oxides and hydroxides of different nature.
