SUBSTANCE: video display device includes a display section for displaying video; a synchronising signal generator for generating an external synchronising signal synchronously with the video in order to indicate the end of displaying a frame making up the video, synchronously with the video; and a synchronising signal transmitter for transmitting the external synchronising signal to video viewing glasses. The video viewing glasses include a synchronising signal receiver for receiving the external synchronising signal; an optical filter section, having a pair of optical filters for controlling the amount of light for transmission to the left and right eye of the viewer, respectively; and an optical filter controller for controlling the optical filter section in response to the external synchronising signal.
