SUBSTANCE: general-purpose cartridge filling and counting unit for box magazines includes a housing, a follower, a follower spring and a cover, and is made in the form of an elastic flexible tie-rod from plastics, metal or composite material with scales applied onto the tie-rod on both sides, as per which the number of cartridges in a magazine is determined when it is separated from a gun and when it is inserted into it. An upper end of the tie-rod is connected to the cartridge follower, or to the upper end of the follower spring, or to an intermediate support between the follower and the spring and is located inside the magazine. A lower end of the tie-rod with a support ring fixed on it by means of a clamp is passed through a hole in the magazine cover with possibility of back-and-forth movement at spring compression or tension. At complete emptying of the magazine, the lower end of the tie-rod, which is turned through 180 degrees, is borne against the cover surface. The cover has protective projections around the hole to prevent abrupt bending or deceleration of the tie-rod when the magazine is supported from solid surface at firing.

EFFECT: quick loading and unloading of box magazines with cartridges, as well as visual and tactile control of their quantity when magazines are removed from the gun or inserted in the gun.
