FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to novel low density polyethylene, having a multimodal comonomer distribution. Described is a film made by extrusion blowing. The film contains polyethylene which contains at least one C3-C20-olefin comonomer which is polymerised with ethylene. The polyethylene has density of 0.91 to 0.925 g/cm3, normalised shear thinning index SHI*(0.1 rad/s)<0.95, where SHI*(ω)=η*(ω)/η°. The film has a dart drop impact value, as measured according ASTM D 1709:2005 Method A on 25 mcm extrusion blown films, of at least 1200 g.
EFFECT: obtaining a low density ethylene polymer which exhibits excellent mechanical/optical properties and process characteristics.
