FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automotive industry. Proposed method consists in definition of driver sleep onset proceeding from the steering wheel turn angle detection. Obtained angle magnitudes are compared with preset values. Counter is used to count the number of steering wheel turns made in definite time interval, larger than preset angle. Then, comparator is used to compare said number of steering wheel turns with preset angles. At the number of turns smaller than preset value signal is transmitted to awakening system. Device at steering column comprises circular transducer to define steering wheel turn angle which is connected with turn angle comparator. The latter is connected with counter is used to count the number of steering wheel turns made in definite time interval, larger than preset angle. Said counter transmits the data to said comparator connected with awakening system.
EFFECT: ruled out falling asleep.
