FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises smelting of ingots by electroslag remelting, turning of ingots to billets, and boring 100±5 mm-diameter central opening. Said billets are heated to ductility temperature and pierced at helical rolling mill to get the sleeve billets. The latter are cooled down and repaired, if required. Said sleeve billets are reheated from cold-charged state to ductility temperature. Sleeve billets are pierced-rolled at helical rolling mill and rolled at Pilger mills. Process wastes are cut off by hot-cutting saw. Billets are hot treated, etched, straightened, subjected to ultrasound control and accepted.
EFFECT: higher quality of pipes and Pilger mill efficiency.
