SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, devices for suppressing and compensating for higher harmonics in electrical circuits and can be used in powerful controlled alternating current drives with two-section frequency converters, in which an input diode rectifier is a nonlinear load. The compensation device includes an inverter, a step-up transformer, a direct current sensor for the frequency converter, a direct current sensor for the compensation device, an alternating current sensor for the frequency converter, an alternating current sensor for the compensation device, a mains voltage sensor, a unit for calculating the average value of direct current of the compensation device, a unit for calculating the average value of direct current of the frequency converter, a unit for calculating the amplitude value of the alternating current of the frequency converter, a PI controller, an adder, a unit for calculating instantaneous phase angles of mains voltage, a multiplier unit, a subtractor unit, a relay controller unit. The device enables to combine the direct current section of the frequency converter and the direct current section of the active filter of higher harmonics.
