SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatus for providing content via a network. The method comprises: storing original content in a predetermined storage device; modifying attributes of the original content to generate modified content; generating metadata including location information of the storage device in which the original content is stored; and providing the modified content and the metadata to a device interconnected via a network, wherein the metadata further include device metadata relating to information about transfer history details when modified content is transferred between different devices, and editing history relating to information about edited details of modified content.
EFFECT: easier access to modified content and enabling modification of attributes of content provided such that it satisfies characteristics of the device receiving the content.
