FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: when changing the number of mixing elements in a settling section from 6 or more, said elements are placed on partition walls in horizontal and vertical rows, respectively, in ratio K×(K-1), and overflow pipes are placed between mixing elements at the intersection of diagonals of squares which join centres of mixing elements, and their number in the horizontal and vertical rows is defined by the ratio (K-1)×K, respectively, wherein the value of K varies from 3 or more. The invention can be used in chemical industry and related industries (petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, hydrometallurgy etc.), where liquid extraction processes are widely used, as well as in chemical machine building.
EFFECT: easy manufacture and high accuracy of assembling a multi-stage column.
