FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of obtaining materials, transparent in an infrared spectrum area, which can be used for manufacturing optic elements, transparent in the area of wavelengths from 0.4 to 25 mcm, non-cooled detectors of χ- and γ - radiations for nuclear-physical methods of diagnostics and control, as well as for manufacturing optical fibres of IR range. A method of obtaining crystals of thallium halogenides includes synthesis of a thallium halogenide salt by bubbling of an inert gas mixture with halogen vapour through a metal thallium melt, the salt purification by vacuum distillation of the melt in a container and crystal growing, with vacuum distillation being performed in the container, installed at 30-50 degree angle relative to a horizontal plane, with the container rotation around its longitudinal axis at a rate of 60-100 rev/min.
EFFECT: increased productivity and simplification of crystal obtaining process.
