FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: step loading of a structure is carried out with a load of a one-way action of compression or tension by the application of the load to a sample and measurement of the load values and deformations of the structure sample material. The structure sample is tested for compression and tension without the sample being reset on the test bench, for this purpose a direction of the load action is changed to the opposite one and sign alternating loading is provided. The load direction is changed by a reverse device, and the value and speed of loading is provided by a one-way action drive. The test bench comprises a base, a movable platform and a drive. The test bench is additionally fitted with at least two movable power platforms and the drive is made as a one-way action device; the test bench is provided with a reverse device, a power device and an adjustment mechanism.

EFFECT: at a proportional increase of the load the equality of longitudinal deformations at four sample faces within one indicator scale mark is reached, at central loading and their current values at eccentric loading, loading can be performed with any eccentricity value within the sample section.
