FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device in a communication system, particularly for facilitating backward compatible self-backhauling in an evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN). The method includes creating at least one interruption in said downlink transmissions from a RN to at least one mobile terminal (UE); receiving a transmission from a donor eNB during said at least one interruption, wherein said transmissions take place in overlapping frequency bands, and wherein said at least one interruption is created using a multicast/broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) subframe format.
EFFECT: eliminating or reducing interference arising when a self-backhaul link between a donor evolved node B (eNB) and a relay node (RN) and radio access links in a cell are operating in a single frequency spectrum.
