SUBSTANCE: method (versions) and device (versions) for mounting a large-size mirror of an optical-mechanical device in a holder relate to optical instrument-making, particularly to large-size optical-mechanical devices, and can be used, for example, to mount large-size mirrors in holders of rotary supports. The method includes the following steps: determining, by calculation, points of mounting and the required number of magnet supports; determining the need to use mirror demounting; mounting the holder at the working position; connecting the centre support to the mirror and the holder; anchoring the magnet supports at selected points of the holder and attachment thereof to the mirror by superimposing and pressing the mirror until it touches the magnets. In another version of the method, additional magnet supports are used instead of the centre support, where the points of mounting and the required number of said additional magnet supports are determined by calculation. The mounting device comprises a centre support and at least three supports, each including a foot bearing attached to the back surface of the mirror, said foot bearing being connected to the holder to enable movement along its surface; the foot bearings used are permanent magnets. In another version, the device includes additional magnet supports attached to the lateral surface of the mirror instead of the centre support.
