The method includes setting up a first transport stream and a second transport stream which includes an extended stream obtained by encoding a video stream captured from a second viewpoint using the H.264 AVC/MVC standard; setting up a playlist file for controlling playback of the basic stream and the extended stream, wherein information about a playlist item, which indicates the basic playback path linked to the basic stream and a PID of a transport packet of the basic stream are described in the PlayItem field, which is a field within the PlayList field; information about the playback sub-path linked to the extended stream is described in a first field within the extended field which is a field lying outside the PlayList field, and the PID of the transport packet of the extended stream is described in a second field within the extended field. A first transport stream, a second transport stream and a playlist file are recorded on a recording medium.

EFFECT: reduced volume of processing when only one stream needs to be played back.
