SUBSTANCE: adjuster adjusts the protective belt strap length. The said strap is selected from the group consisting of a shoulder strap, a breast strap, a girder strap, a support strap and a leg strap. The adjuster contains a shaft, functionally connected to the base so that to enable rotation and limiting the slot made so that to enable accommodation of the said strap, and a locking mechanism connecting the base and the shaft. The locking mechanism ensures the possibility of the shaft rotation in the first direction and prevents the shaft rotation in the second (opposite) direction. The method for adjustment of the length of the strap of a protective belt equipped with the adjuster involves the adjuster positioning at the required spot along the said strap, the said strap winding onto the shaft and the shaft locking with the help of the locking mechanism to ensure prevention of rotation in the unwinding direction.
