FIELD: metallurgy industry.
SUBSTANCE: method of protection of the surface of metal parts during heating in furnaces comprises placing the parts in the container, filling them with chippings, closing the container with a lid, and heating. The chippings are used, obtained by treatment of titanium or its alloys with a bulk density of not less than 0.2 g/cm3. The layer of the chippings over the parts is not less than 10 mm, and the heating temperature is at least 600°C.
EFFECT: obtaining the surface of the parts after heating without oxide films in the absence of decarburised and carburised surface layer.
