SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication and more specifically to scrambling information for transmission over a channel, depending on a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) relating to a transmission type in a wireless communication system. A scrambling sequence generation is initialised (e.g., at the start of each subframe) at least partially as a function of the RNTI. The type of RNTI used for the initialisation of the scrambling sequence corresponds to the transmission type, e.g., whether the transmission is related to the system information, paging, random access response, scheduled transmission or contention resolution message of a random access procedure, semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) traffic, regular unicast traffic. The generated scrambling sequence is used to scramble data for transmission over a data channel, e.g., physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).

EFFECT: providing an effective scrambling sequence for wireless communication.
