FIELD: physics, atomic power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparation and burial of radioactive wastes. The disclosed method includes delivering radioactive wastes to a burial site, preparing the radioactive wastes, placing the radioactive wastes in the burial volume and final isolation from the environment. Burial is carried out using open pits with a completed cycle of mining operations - mining or ore-mining pits (3) with a rock base for dumping site (8) development and preparation of radioactive wastes for burial of a radioactive waste processing station (2) and a transportation network (6) for radioactive wastes. Burial is carried out primarily in prepared unified cube-shaped metal matrices. The method allows the recycling of the metal after decontamination at stations (10). The base of the pit is filled with imported clay (4) with levelling to the ground level, where the radioactive wastes are placed while providing gaps between blocks (5) and walls of the pit, after which the gaps are filled with clay and left to set. Block-decked filling of the pit continues. The unfilled part of the pit is then covered with clay and filled with earth to restore the landscape.
EFFECT: high reliability of prolonged isolation-burial of radioactive wastes and efficiency of burying radioactive wastes without limitations on origin, activity, structure, materials, shape, dimensions, time and conditions of previous storage of containers and packages of the radioactive wastes.
