SUBSTANCE: invention relates to evaluation of objects for recommender systems to allow a system to analyse user preferences. The method includes maintaining the record of a plurality of previously evaluated objects and associated evaluations thereof and, after receiving an evaluation for a first object (201), retrieving (205) at least one of the evaluated objects having an evaluation similar to the evaluation of the first object. The at least one retrieved evaluated object is displayed (207). A user can then alter the evaluation of the first object or retrieved objects (209) to apply the evaluations successively.
