FIELD: physics, computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recommendation systems. An apparatus for controlling a recommendation system includes: a recording means (S100) for detecting and recording user interface actions with respect to at least one content item controlled by the user interface; a computing means (S200, S300) for computing, based on the recorded user interface actions, numerical or categorical values which characterise use of the content item, and for determining, from said numerical or categorical values and from implicit estimation of the user of said content item, the contribution in the estimation history; and a conversion means (S400) for converting the estimation history into a user interface profile, which is transmitted to a recommendation means (S500) in order to estimate a new content item; wherein the output of the recommendation means (S500) is used as the implicit estimation (S600) history for the recommendation system.

EFFECT: high overall efficiency of estimating content items and providing a potentially more reliable final estimate of content items.
