SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a drying procedure, namely to bast raw material drying methods and to devices for its implementation, namely flax retting stalks. In a method and device for drying of bast raw material, which involves preparation of a horizontal layer of retted straw stalks, its transportation with simultaneous blowing with heated air in one tier, according to the invention, drying is performed with heated air at two stages; at the first stage, butt ends are blown down simultaneously with some portion of middle part from below, tops and the rest part of the middle parts are blown down from above; at the second stage, butt ends and some portion of middle parts are blown down from above, and tops and the rest part of middle parts from below using lower and upper air distributors.

EFFECT: invention shall ensure increase of drying effectiveness due to increase of uniformity of residual moisture as to length and thickness of bast raw material and reduce energy costs.
