SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. A method of determining a user's commodity of interest as an acquisition object comprises steps of: determining, by a computing device, user behaviour when browsing web pages based at least in part on monitoring multiple web pages accessed through a network via an interface, and analysis of at least one of a uniform resource locator (URL), page text or cookies associated with each of the multiple web pages; monitoring, by the computing device, a set of websites on which a search request was made; monitoring, by the computing device, the number of executions of at least one search request at one or more of said monitored websites; determining, by the computing device, one or more commodities interesting said user as an acquisition object based at least in part on the number of executions of at least one search request; and determining, by the computing device, shopping preferences of said user based at least in part on the behaviour of the user when browsing web pages and time spent between a first search request from the at least one search request and purchasing.

EFFECT: combining contextual information into semantic information on user location.
