FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steel cold rolling. The oil-in-water type lubricant includes an oil-in-water emulsion. Improved rolling and cooling conditions, which enable to reduce rolling thickness and prevent metal corrosion are achieved due to that the lubricant includes: (a) an oil phase, comprising 5 wt % 10% to 40 wt % 10% of at least one polymeric surfactant, 25 wt % 10% to 95 wt % 10% of a base oil and 0.2wt % 10% to 10 wt % 10% of extreme pressure lubrication additives, and (b) a water phase, wherein particles of the oil phase have a particle size modal value d(50%) of 1 mcm or less. The lubricant may include 0.5 wt % 10% to 6 wt % 10% of functional additives in the oil phase. The cold rolling method includes use of a lubricant of said composition.
EFFECT: improved rolling and cooling conditions, which enable to reduce the rolling thickness and prevent metal corrosion.
