FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: overvoltage protection element comprises contact tab (10), contact element (12) placed remotely from contact tab (10) and connecting element (14), which in the first position adjoins contact tab (10) and contact element (12) for the purpose of their electrical connection and in its second position it is placed remotely from contact tab (10) and contact element (12). In the first position between connecting element (14) and contact tab (10) as well as between connecting element (14) and contact element (12) there is a thermally detachable connection, at that connecting element (14) covers contact tab (10) and/or contact element (12) at least partially.
EFFECT: removal of both surge currents with large amplitudes occurring at switching operations and high-energy partial lightning currents.
