FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: mandrel includes internal hollow metal housing 1 mounted on a traverse, external thin-wall conical metal sleeve 3 fixed on it so that cooling water circulation ducts are formed and device 12 to provide water circulation in the mandrel at the pressure of 10-50 MPa. Sleeve 3 has wall thickness not exceeding 6 mm; it is made from metal with elasticity modulus of at least 9000 MPa and yield point of at least 350 MPa.
EFFECT: increasing stability of a pouring process at transient processes, improving operating reliability of mandrel operation and improving quality of hollow cast workpieces.
