FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of protecting metal surfaces from scaling and corrosion, and more specifically to protective anti-salt compositions which form a coating on the surface of articles, particularly on housings of pumps operating in an aggressive medium. The composition includes ethyl silicate binder, fine zinc and technical amorphous carbon. The overall quantitative content of carbon and said binder is 100 wt % with carbon content of 5-95 wt %, and zinc content is 0.5-3.0 pts.wt per 1 pts.wt overall quantitative content of carbon and binder. A method of preparing the composition includes preparing a preliminary base consisting of a mixture of carbon and ethyl silicate binder. Further, zinc or a mixture of zinc with ethyl or isopropyl alcohol is added to said preliminary base while stirring, wherein said alcohols are taken in amount of not more than 5 wt % of the total weight of the composition.
EFFECT: preparing a composition which enables to form a coating with high stability and sufficient adhesion while simultaneously providing, through said coating, high antifouling capability in a formation fluid environment and anti-corrosion capability.
