SUBSTANCE: according to this method, the bearing of a sound source is determined in the following way: air temperature, wind velocity and position angle of its direction in an atmospheric boundary layer is measured and entered to a computer, a special attention area (SAA) is marked on a topographic map, where artillery and mortar-gun sites can be arranged, a flat section is chosen afield, which has approximately a rectangular shape and length of at least three metres and width of at least ten metres, the larger sides of which would be approximately perpendicular to the direction to the approximate SAA centre, an inclination angle of the above section to the horizon plane is measured, and considering the above angle and using an optic and mechanical instrument and a ranging pole there determined afield is an acoustic bearing in a certain manner, acoustic signals and interference is received, converted to electric signals and interference, processed in the first and the second signal processing channels of acoustic bearing finders or acoustic radars, constant voltages U1 and U2 received only from SAA are determined at the outlet of the same channels, the voltage U2 is subtracted from the voltage U1, these voltages are added, the ratio of difference to their sum ηCP is obtained and the apparent bearing of the sound source αS is calculated automatically as per the programme.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy of bearing finding of a sound source at ground surfaces inclined to horizon plane, where an acoustic antenna is arranged, and reducing the time required for the determination of the bearing of this source.
