FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: elevator rope conditions are monitored by measurement of electric resistance between first point (R') and second point (R") of suspended or pull ropes (R) for the first time. Measurement results allows determination of threshold magnitude. Elevator is used for transfer of people and/or cargoes. Measurement of electric resistance between first point (R') and second point (R") of suspended or pull ropes (R) for the second time. Measurement second results allows determination of threshold magnitude. In case second measured magnitude complies with threshold magnitude lift operating conditions are adjusted or elevator is removed from service. Suspended and/or pull ropes (R) are made of composite with polymer matrix reinforced with fibres, such as composite with polymer matrix reinforced with carbon fibres. Preferably, they are made of composite with polymer matrix reinforced with unidirectional carbon fibres. Invention relates also to system for elevator rope conditions monitoring.
EFFECT: efficient and reliable monitoring.
