FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to coated ropes or belts used, for example, in elevator systems, used for elevator suspension and/or its actuation. Method of detecting belt or rope with coating wear, including measurement of initial electrical resistance of one or more belt or cable with coating cord (cords), strands or wires. Initial resistance is calibrated by repeating initial measurement of electric resistance and entry of set of measured initial electric resistance values into database. Determining true value of initial electric resistance from plurality of initial electric resistance entered values and compare measured values of electrical resistance of one or more belt or coated cable cord (cords), strands or wires with true value of initial resistance.
EFFECT: invention enables more accurate control of belt or rope with coating wear for elevator suspension and/or actuation.
