SUBSTANCE: invention is used in electrical engineering. The invention claims a method for control of a tap changer under load for a forced excitation circuit (1), which is comprised of a generator (3), an up transformer (5) equipped with the tap changer (7) under load and connected at one side to an output of the above generator (3) and at the other side to a power transmission bus (9), and an excitation control system (11) consisting of an automatic generator voltage regulator (AVRG) and at least one excitation limiter (OELG, UELG). According to the method conditions of the generator excitation are monitored, at least one excitation limiter is activated when the monitored conditions of excitation are outside limits of a preset range, steps of the above tap changer under load are interlocked when the above excitation limiter is activated.
EFFECT: higher stability of the generator operation.
