SUBSTANCE: sealing article (20) is intended for sealing securing on at least one annular sealing zone (4) the surrounding opening (2) of the container (1), is made of a sealing sheet consisting of a carrier layer (11) of material comprising at least 80% of fibres of predominantly plant origin, and a multilayer structure (16) comprising on one side an adhesive layer (12) and on the other side a sealing layer (15), and the said sealing article is produced by the method of stamping, as a result of which a relief (24) is formed, which base (21) follows at least periodically the contour shape, which is close to the contour of the inner edge of the said annular sealing zone, at that the sheet structure for sealing additionally comprises an intermediate layer (13) made of a sufficiently strong plastic capable of sustaining the plastic deformation, the average thickness of which is such that it imparts to the finished product the sufficient elasticity and strength and enables to emboss the article to the desired shape without abruptions.
