FIELD: physics; control.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a protective control device for an actuating drive (2.1, 2.2, 2.3) for controlling or adjusting flow of gas or liquid using cut-off plates (3.1, 3.2, 3.3) or a valve, particularly in apparatus for heating-ventilation-air conditioning (HLK), fire safety and/or protection of buildings. A safety circuit (9.1, 9.2, 9.3) is designed such that during breakdown or failure of the electric power supply circuit (8.1, 8.2, 8.3), it ensures power supply in emergency mode. A circuit (1.1, 1.2, 1.3) for outputting a default value detects status signals, particularly sensor (11.1, 11.2, 11.3) signals and/or setting status parameters and/or a given position of an actuated manual adjustment mechanism. The safety default value is set depending on status signals at one of at least two different default values (SW1, SW2, …) such that the safety position of the cut-off plate is determined adaptively.

EFFECT: providing a more flexible operating mode of the device.
