FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of producing granular sorbent includes drying iron oxyhydroxide wastes in a dispersed state and suspending said wastes in a granulator with a mixer and internal fins at a rate of 300-2000 revolutions in 5-10 minutes in an apolar medium with addition of a polar aqueous polymer solution to obtain granules which are then filtered out and dried at 20-100°C. The polar aqueous polymer solution used is polyvinyl alcohol in amount of 0.3-0.5 wt %. The apolar medium used is nonane or octane or nefras or tetrachloromethane, taken with dispersed iron oxyhydroxide power in ratio of not less than 5:1, respectively.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an iron oxyhydroxide-based granular sorbent which does not condense during use and has high sorption capacity with respect to oil products and phenol and high mechanical strength.
