FIELD: environmental protection.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection, to methods for producing sorbents from biodegradable carbon material for purification of waste water from oil products. Invention relates to a method of obtaining carbon sorbent for purification of waste water from petroleum products, which includes carbonization of the ground nut shell in a muffle furnace. Raw material used is a pecan nut shell which is ground to produce a weighed portion sized to 2 to 5 mm and moisture content of 12 to 15%, carbonisation is carried out at temperature from 300 to 400°C for 45 to 60 minutes followed by cooling in a desiccator to temperature of 20 to 25°C and holding for at least 24 hours.

EFFECT: technical result is obtaining a carbon sorbent obtained from environmentally safe plant material with sorption properties for cleaning oil products.
