FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: waste water is fed to the input of a sealed multi-stage filter module comprising at least three series-mounted chambers separated by partition walls, which allow the overflow of the waste water from the previous chamber to the next. The chambers have a floating load on which there is a biocenosis of microorganisms. The waste water passes through said multi-stage filter module with forced aeration and maintenance of acidic and ionic conditions, which are optimum for sustaining the microorganisms. The optimum ionic conditions are maintained using a salt concentrate obtained by demineralising water on reverse-osmosis apparatus, which is fed into a storage container.
EFFECT: high efficiency of treating industrial waste water from highly concentrated organic impurities without uncontrolled emission of volatile organic compounds from the apparatus into the atmosphere.
