FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: method of quality control of steel products by determination of their corrosion resistance is that samples are prepared from products. Then specimens are prepared with polished surface treated by the electrochemical method using the chemical agent containing chlorine ions. Then steel corrosion resistance is estimated. At that the specimen surface is treated by the electrochemical method under potentiostatic mode, at potential -400÷-150 mV for 35÷120 minutes in solution containing chlorine ions 0.1-25 g/l, and additionally magnesium ions 0.1-4 g/l, and corrosion resistance of steel is estimated by the saturation current density.

EFFECT: improved informativeness and authenticity of the corrosion resistance estimation method for pipe steels and pipes operated in high-mineralized corrosion environment.
