FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of small cutting tools sized to 6 mm from speed steel and can be used for production of cutters at low margin of safety approximating to 1. Billet is heat treated to hardness 53-57 HRCe. Then, tool profile is shaped while tool surface ply is subjected to fluid carbonitriding in the medium of potassium cyanate and potash at 560°C to tool hardness 70-74 HRCe.
EFFECT: higher hardness and reliability of tools, reliable production.
