FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: fraction is held at temperature of 200-300°C, pressure of 0.1-1.0 MPa for 2-10 hours, and the treated fraction is then fed for atmospheric-vacuum simple distillation and the distillate is then fed for extracting naphthalene by crystallisation with an existing method.
EFFECT: use of the present method enables to obtain naphthalene of high purity with a shorter thermal exposure time and a lower temperature.
