FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering, particularly to radio monitoring systems for determining the position of pulsed radio-frequency sources. The method is based on using measurements of values of the time of arrival of signals at three radio monitoring stations, two which are fixed and one (or two) are mobile. The measured values of the time of arrival are used to calculate the propagation time of signals from the radio-frequency source. A 5×5 Cayley-Menger determinant is formed and opened to obtain the complete quartic equation. The numerical solution of said equation yields the values of the distance from the source to the stations and, based on the proportional relationship between the ratios of the distance from the station to the radio-frequency source and corresponding ratios of values of the delay of pulsed signals, enables to obtain all combinations of multiplicative differences of said ratios. The multiplicative differences of the ratios are processed using a dichotomous method or accelerated descent methods.
EFFECT: determining spatial coordinates of radio-frequency sources using three fixed stations.
