FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes neutralising reaction gases with a neutralising solution, drying the reaction gases with calcium chloride solution at temperature lower than minus 15°C. The method is characterised by that the neutralising solution used is an alkali-earth and/or alkali metal hydroxide in calcium chloride solution, and before drying, the neutralised gases are cooled to output temperature in the range of plus 5 to minus 5°C, followed by separating from the cooling mixture condensed chlorohydrocarbons, from which chloromethanes are distilled.
EFFECT: use of the present method reduces costs on neutralising and drying reaction gases, and reduces formation of gum residue on heating surfaces of boilers of fractionation columns for separating commercial-grade chloromethanes.
