SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical technology, in particular to the manufacture of ammonia and sulphuric acid from ammonium sulphate, may be used for new ways of processing of ammonium sulphate as an undesired by-product. A method is described for manufacturing ammonia and sulphuric acid by thermal decomposition of ammonium sulphate into ammonium bisulphate and a secondary sulphate, which forms a double salt with ammonium sulphate; precipitation of the double salt, separation of the double salt; the resulting solution of sulphuric acid was purified by precipitation of the impurities, the impurities were separated, the resulting solution of sulphuric acid was concentrated by boiling down to achieve a commercial grade sulphuric acid; the double salt was then broken down to ammonium sulphate, which was returned to the thermal decomposition process, and to secondary sulphate, which was returned to the stage of producing ammonium bisulphate and a secondary sulphate, which forms a double salt with the ammonium sulphate.

EFFECT: new ways of processing of ammonium sulphate as an undesired by-product, simplified methods of ammonia and sulphuric acid manufacture from ammonium sulphate, avoiding production of a hazardous sulphur dioxide.
