FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining magnesium oxide includes the purification of a magnesium sulphate solution by fraction neutralisation, separation of the residue by filtration, precipitation of magnesium hydroxide from the filtrate by ammonia and precipitation of magnesium carbonate by ammonium carbonate, washing the deposits from sulphate-ion with further thermal processing and separation of magnesium oxide. An ammonium sulphate solution, obtained at the precipitation stages is evaporated, granulated, melted, with simultaneous obtaining of ammonia, which is then cooled, condensed and recycled to the stage of precipitation of admixtures of metals and magnesium hydroxide, and the melted ammonium hydrosulphate, which is dissolved and used for leaching magnesium sulphate with admixtures of metals from the magnesium-containing raw material, which is then supplied to further processing with obtaining the closed production cycle.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to obtain magnesium oxide by the closed method by an economical way and reduce the weight of materials.
