FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing polyether alcohols used to produce synthetic polyurethane materials. The method of producing polyether alcohols includes a first step of reacting at least one initiating compound with at least one alkylene oxide and one amine or double metal cyanide catalyst. The second step of the method includes removing low-molecular weight by-products from the crude polyether alcohol via treatment thereof in a column with built-in elements using stripping gas. A gas mixture containing steam is used as the stripping gas. The method is carried out in continuous mode at low pressure.
EFFECT: invention enables to efficiently remove low-molecular weight by-products from crude polyether alcohol in continuous mode and obtain a product without foul smell.
